From October 6th to 9th 2014 the REKLIM Research-Network of the Helmholtz-Association hosted an international scientific conference in Berlin. As part of this event students studying Journalism at the DEKRA Hochschule Berlin conducted an innovative media-project.

Within the international REKLIM conference in Berlin at the beginning of October, there was an interview with Michael Kunz in the Resonator, a Podcast of the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centres (HGF) on the subject 'Thunderstorms and Hail' [in German].

Within the framework of the CEDIM project Forensic Disaster Analysis (FDA), the following  report on the Typhoon Rammasun (15.-18.7.14) is published.

The teaching award for the best special lecture (master program) at the Faculty of Physics goes to Michael Kunz for his lecture ‘Meteorological natural hazards’ (Score: 1.1). The award is going to be presented on Friday, 18.07.2014, during the Physical Colloquium.

As part of the  record high temperatures in June and the following severe thunderstorms, our working group received many requests by the media.

The management board of the Center for Disaster Management and Risk Reduction Technology (CEDIM) decided in the meeting end of May to extent the funding for another year until Dec. 2015.

Since June 2014, the new coordinator of Topic 6 "Risks and Risk Management" of the KIT-Center Climate and Environment is PD Dr. Michael Kunz.

1st European Hail Workshop took place at the University of Bern from June 25 to 27, 2014.

Registration for the international conference (6–8 October, 2014) and for public event now possible (9 October, 2014).
