Our Partner Institutions
Besides many national and international scientific institutes and facilities the Intitute of Meteorology and Climate Research - Department Troposphere Research (IMK-TRO) cooperates very closely with other institutes in the fields of experimental and model based atmospheric research, in education of our students, and in temporary exchange of scientific staff including PhD students.
These are:
- University of Leeds, School of Earth and Environment, Institute for Climate and Atmospheric Science (ICAS)
- Deutscher Wetterdienst, DWD
- DLR - Institut für Physik der Atmosphäre
- Technische Universität Braunschweig - Institut für Flugführung
- Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München - Meteorologisches Institut
- Johannes-Gutenberg-Universität Mainz - Institut für Physik der Atmosphäre
The Department Troposphere Research of IMK has signed a contract of cooperation with ICAS of the University of Leeds. The contract encourages scientific cooperation and exchange of staff and PhD-students between the two institutes.
Within the research programme "Atmosphere and Climate" of the Helmholtz Association (HGF) the German Weather Sercvice (DWD) and the Institute of Atmospheric Physics of DLR are official co-operation partner of IMK-TRO in many fields of atmospheric measurements and weather and climate modelling. There is a number of common research projects.
Partners in the DFG funded Transregional Collaborative Research Center 165 "Waves to Weather" are the Institute for Atmospheric Physics of the Johannes-Gutenberg-University, Mainz, the Meteorological Institute of the Ludwig-Maximilians-University, Munich, and the Intitute of Meteorology and Climate Research of KIT.
The Institute for Flight Guidance of the Technical University of Braunschweig operates the research aircraft DO 128 (D-IBUF). For decades there has been a close cooperation with IMK-TRO in developing instruments for airborne measurements of meteorological data and atmospheric composition.
