How to reach the Campus South by Public Transport

The campus south is located in the city center of Karlsruhe and can easily be reached by public transport.

Informations about travel data of the German Railway to find a convenient connection for your trip to Karlsruhe central train station is provided by the Deutsche Bundesbahn. Below you find various ways to get to Campus South by tram from Karlsruhe central train station. The exact times of departure are available on the website of the Karlsruher Verkehrsverbund.

Tram line 2 (direction Wolfartsweier),
Tram line 3 (direction Heide),
Tram line 4 (direction Waldstadt) or
Tram line S4 (direction Bretten, Eppingen or Heilbronn)

Please get off at the stops "Kronenplatz /KIT Campus Süd" or "Durlacher Tor", from these stops its just a short walk to Campus South. The trams operate in 5-minute intervals; traveling time is 8 to 10 minutes. You can find an interactive city map here.
 

How to Reach the Campus South by Car

Car

 

Coming from North / South:
Motorway A5 (Frankfurt / Heidelberg and Basel / Freiburg):

  • Leave the motorway A5 at the Karlsruhe-Durlach exit.
  • Continue driving towards Karlsruhe (first exit).
  • Follow the four-lane road  (Durlacher Allee) until you reach the sign that says "KIT-Campus Süd" and then turn to the right (Adenauer Ring).
  • After a short distance you reach the main entrance on the left.

 

Coming from East:
Motorway A8 (Munich and Stuttgart):

  • Follow the motorway A8 towards Karlsruhe until you reach the Karlsruhe junction.
  • Proceed from there towards the A5 to Frankfurt.
  • Leave the A5 at the Karlsruhe-Durlach exit.
  • Continue driving towards Karlsruhe (first exit).
  • Follow the four-lane road  (Durlacher Allee) until you reach the sign that says "KIT-Campus Süd" and then turn to the right (Adenauer Ring).
  • After a short distance you reach the main entrance on the left.

 

 

Coming from Northwest:
Motorway A61 (Cologne and Koblenz):

  • Follow the motorway A61 until you reach the A5 (direction Karlsruhe/Basel)
  • Leave the motorway A5 at the Karlsruhe-Durlach exit. 
  • Continue driving towards Karlsruhe (first exit).
  • Follow the four-lane road  (Durlacher Allee) until you reach the sign that says "KIT-Campus Süd" and then turn to the right (Adenauer Ring).
  • After a short distance you reach the main entrance on the left.

 

Please note the following:

Use the main campus entrance at the Adenauer-Ring (near Durlacher Tor) in all cases. At the reception you will receive an entry permit.
The west entrance is reserved for staff with a code card.

 

Location inside Campus South

The Institute is located on the 13th floor of the physics tower (building 30.23). It is located in the western part of the campus in the Wolfgang-Gaede-Str. 1.
