Severe convective outbreak in Western Europe 8-10 June 2014

High-level cloud cover (%, gray shades) and precipitation rates (mm/5 min, colors) as simulated with the ICON model. The large computational domain at convection-permitting resolution allows for a successful forecast of the convective storms including a mesoscale convective system (MSC) on 9 June 2014.
