The IMKTRO presentation globe in the Triangle
After its appearance at the opening ceremony of the KIT ScienceWeek last year, the presentation globe is now back on the road and has been set up in its usual professional manner by the IMKTRO technical team in the Triangel on Kronenplatz. It will be taking up a prominent position there for the next few months and will be a real crowd-puller at the numerous events. Thanks to the large shop windows of the triangle, the globe is not only clearly visible from the inside, but also from the outside. Among other things, information about the IMKTRO will be provided so that many Karlsruhe residents will become aware of the institute and the meteorology and climate physics degree programme.
We would like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to our technicians! They dismantled the globe in the "Physikhochhaus" and reassembled it in the triangle in their usual professional manner.
The globe has a diameter of 120 cm and stands on a small pillar. Two projectors (both in HD quality) are used to project so-called stories in high resolution onto the inside of the globe. The stories are controlled via a console with a touchscreen. There are currently around 30 to 40 stories available, some of which were created by the IMKTRO and IMKASF institutes themselves.
The stories not only place past events in a global perspective, but also show regional differences in future climate development in moving films. The images on the globe can be enlarged for parts of the world, so that a closer look at individual regions is also possible.
The Triangel is a place of inspiration, creativity, exchange and collaboration at the interface of science, business and society. It is a lively place with an attractive annual programme for young and old, flexible spaces for creative work in an inspiring environment, an integrated café - a place to feel good. With a range of customised exhibitions, events and other formats, a dynamic atmosphere is created for networking, learning, developing innovative ideas and bringing them to life.
In short, an ideal place for our globe!
